Being a persuasive person is a must nowadays, people use different techniques and tactics. The point is to be able to evaluate a situation and choose the right strategy. Bearing in mind that not all people can be persuaded due to their type of character but they're still not immune to it if the timing and the context is right.
It involves a series of capabilities that able us to persuade others into doing what we want... the more skilled we are at persuading the better we will achieve our goals.
I personally I'm scared to take my kids to the toy store... This is an excellent example on how persuasion works. They would just ask me to buy them every single toy they put their eyes on and use their various types of persuasive techniques to convince me of doing so. This also tells us that from a very young age we are capable of persuading and we evolve or get better at it as times passes. Persuasion also has a lot to do with our cultural background not to mention that it also is intuitive and is crucial for our social interactions.
Persuasion helps us achieve not just our own but also common goals with other people. Perfect examples would be businesses, religion and politics. These people are just experts on the art of persuasion, they know exactly what to say to people to make them believe that they really do have common goals and that we're all on the same boat, and that's one of the the keys to their success.
If a persuasive person is what you want to become, then there's some very simple methods you can follow.
Persuasion it’s just changing someone’s mind without being aggressive or use any kind of force. A way of changing someone’s perspective about something somewhat different than what the other person had in mind which as a result there's a change of behaviour and thinking and even outcomes of certain situations.
Different or new information is given to the person making them reanalyze their whole original views, and after all the information is mentioned then that’s when their perspectives start to change… thoughts that become actions or attitudes.
For example: we all have friends and family and when there’s gatherings we can’t help but to get influenced by their opinions and points of view, unless you’re a very close-minded person who doesn’t like anything that’s new or innovative or just different, another possibility is that the person rejects other perspectives and we must also keep in mind that not everyone is going to let themselves get influenced by someone who they don’t trust, this is obvious but when trying to persuade somebody, it is necessary to find the thing that they DO trust and let themselves get influenced by.
If, by any means you can’t do the persuasion face to face then there’s a very good trick which is very effective, if you want the person to choose a number by the end of the day for whatever reason, then keep on showing them that very number since the morning without them realizing it and I’ll guarantee you that the person is going to choose that number which has been influencing him all day long.
An instant respond can occur if the right words are said at the right time to obtain what we want. But we must make sure that we properly deliver the message, motivation, and the interests. So, even if the person is skeptical to the new information... it still stays in their minds which still is progress and a point from which we can keep working on from. One thing to keep in mind is that insisting might get on the nerves of some people while others might just keep on listening till they are satisfied with information and then ultimately give a positive answer. Not everyone is the same but reading their body language if you know how to do that, can be very helpful.
A good tactic should have the right the time, place, surroundings, sensitivity/ emotions, character and credibility, and from that we can move to the arguments and this is what complements the persuasion. Just as with best or good friends... we can relate to them
because we're into the same interests and we both think a certain way so this without the need of being friends is what we need to persuade somebody.
In business and advertising they're constantly showing you how they can give just what you need to make your dreams come true by showing you how the actors are so happy at the advert but is that all true? Or just a way to persuade you into buying their products? Persuasion works pretty much like manipulation but in a more subtle way.
