Hey Abi, I envy you! What I will do, solely depends on how I'd react to this feeling I have. If I should watch you suffer and let schadenfreude (new word learnt) overwhelm me, showing my ignobility or instead, strive to be like you or better, - doing the opposites of what happened in the stories. Like in the Cain and Abel's, I realize my mistake, forsake them, learn from Abel to do better next time and be as noble as he is or maybe also in the beginning story, respect my crush's feeling and understand with patience that there are more good personels out there of which one day I'll get one to myself. However the story goes, there are always two possible reactions, the virtuous and immoral. The immoral is the shall not in the above religions.
And another thing, we should know that those who we may envy have problems of theirs, so we should just endeavor to be the best of ourselves.
our uniqueness
I'll ensure that, I as an apple be my best and allow you a be a great pear. (I prefer apples :))
Nevertheless, in the current society, the immoral has a way of dominating the virtuous. That's what we all, often see in cases of jealously. So it is generally regarded as a "taboo subject" and a shall not
So on the good side, my envy can push me to set new goals (similar to having a role model).
My first statement was a joke :D
Have a lovely weekend
@synick ! 😍
Oh my, my ... what a great comment you left me here. Thank you so much my dear. You have managed to extract the most important elements of this entire topic: the ignoble feeling that envy elicits (schadenfreude), the decision of whether or not to nurture it and most important of all, the understanding of our uniqueness, which ultimately should lead us to see others not as superior or better than us, but as role models!
It is a sad thing, but I cannot disagree with you with regard to the fact that many times virtuous people are dominated. However, I believe there is also another element that takes place here: People's personalities. Gosh, you might have just given me an idea for a post! 😉
I know your first statement was a joke :P
You too have a lovely weekend. It is nice to see you around. Thank you for stopping by :*
You're welcome. And if you will really create something on peoples personalities, I'll definitely want to see it.
For the beginning story, is it your fiction? I ask because of the character that coincidentally have your name.
No my dear, that is a theater play (my favourite one, actually). It was written by Arthur Miller. It is set in the 1600's and largely discusses the superstitious beliefs of that time. There is a movie which was adapted from it in the 90's, which I also recommend. Here is the trailer for you.
Ow, ok ... glad to hear you would be interested to read a post about personalities :)
