Why people drop out from the steemit gold mine?
It's a fair question It is be hard for those of us who see this as a great opportunity to fathom those folks who abandon ship. Let's assume that like most of the population there are a variety of reasons which would lead to someone leaving. Besides you cannot ask people who have already left why they left. What we are left with is our thought experiments.
Our Thought Experiment
Our Hypothesis
Steem Power is the gold in this analogy buried 3 to 5 miles down in steemit. It can change your life if you are willing to work it.
Let's use our imaginations and follow through on this experiment.
Imagine if you gathered 750,000 thousand people into a stadium, and assured them that there was gold under their feet about three to five miles down. You showed them evidence, data, and geological charts of similar sites around the world that yielded vast riches. Further magine, if you will, that you provided the tools for the dig, free of charge. Also you told them that it would take 1 to 3 years to hit pay dirt. That would require some patience wouldn't it? Finally if you told them that the odds of success is 80 %, since there is not guarantee in life. How many people to you think would would stay? How many would get to work and start digging?
In this thought experiment the tools are upvoting, the communities, replies, commenting, posting, and making personal connections here on steemit. Each mile represents six months to a year depending on how well you use the tools given.
Let's run our thought experiment and see why some might leave:
We can imagine that of the 750,000 a certain percentage will walk out immediately claiming it was a scam. Another significant percentage conclude that they don't have time to put in years of work for a chance "maybe" or a "possibly" of getting rich. Then there are those who would conclude that life is short and 3 years of your life spent digging and getting dirty isn't worth it.
Others would say that getting rich is not their objective? Simply put, being rich is not important.
Those with the anticapitalist leanings might say that being rich will corrupt the soul. The fearful, might say would say that mining for gold is just too dangerous an endeavour. Honestly this is where I might falter because I ain't going down no mine shaft and have it collapse on my ass!! No way!! So this last group might count me in because I am afraid of closed in spaces. Just kidding because nothing dangerous about this thought experiment.
Then there are some people who will not participate for religious reasons. You know them. They are the "Money is the root of all evil" crowd . While still others who simply think their time could be better spent else where.
Unfortunately there are just people who feel they are in the wrong phase in life. They think they are too old or too young. Still others will think it is just to difficult a task and a big inconvenience. You can imagine that personal issues, family issues, and health issues will also contribute to a certain percentage dropping out from this opportunity. Finally it is beyond the control of others who simply are struck with illnesses or death.
Our Thought experiment is complete . Adding it all up... sort of.
Of the 750,000 current steemit members I can easily imagine that 150, 000 (arbitrary number) would decide that steemit is not for them. Is it a mystery? Not really. This is eDarwinism at work. Do we wish everyone would benefit form the opportunity? Yes we do because we steemians are well meaning folks who want everyone to prosper.
The reality is that there is attrition. There is eDarwinism, the natural selection out from steemit life. There is probably no hidden or secret reasons for those who choose to quit or leave steemit. You haven't missed some hidden danger that lurks beyond the next corner. Is is simply eDarwinism at work. Not all people are willing dig for pot of gold ( Steem Power).
Digging is not for everyone
Digging for steem power is like mining for gold. There will be times when you get negative feedback, down votes, no replies to your posts, and seeing no revenue. This is the dirt you gotta pass through. On the other hand engaging the community, replying to responses to your post, greeting new steemians, contributing good content back to your community, and gaining followers is part of the sweat. It is not for everyone. But for those who choose to do the work it will be worth it. Steem Power is under valued so earn it while it's a bargain. Good things comes to those who wait and work patiently.
In year 2010, 10,000 Bitcoins were used to buy a pizza. A single Bitcoin is now at worth $12,000 USD. I hope that $120,000,000 pizza was really tasty. Well at least the pizza was delivered.... am I right steemians? Imagine today that you were the person who paid for the pizza. Ouch!!!!
So good things sometimes takes more than a year. Don't be the guy who paid for the pizza in Bitcoin. Be he guy who delivered the pizza for 10,000 bit coin.
Have you thought about quitting steemit? If so why? Do you see yourself among one or more of the groups described above? I would like to hear from you.
Thanks for reading my post. I hope you enjoyed it
Keep it moving steemians!!
