Due to the pandemic that has put the nation in an undefined situation and an indefinite pause.The first two weeks that was announced by the Federal government of Nigeria was to ensure everyone is in their homes so as to ensure social distancing. In view of this, the population of worshippers and social gatherings were reduced minimally, school were closed, work places and offices were closed too, markets and stores were closed, no more sports activities like people to stadiums or viewing centres to watch football or other sport activities.
Total lockdown has been really effective in states like Abuja, Lagos and Ogun states since they have large number of the virus being reported due to the fact that the states are crowded with commercial activities and they are nodal.The residents of these states are meant to be indoor all day otherwise they will be maltreated by soldiers and other force agents. This has brought about the worse case of robbery attack by some notorious guys which are reported to be more than seven hundred (700) in number. This incidence has caused the residents of these states especially Lagos and Ogun state to swing into action by watching over their houses and communities as security guards when they are meant to be in their homes living peacefully with their wives and children.
With the situation of things now, the case of COVID-19 has outgrown the expectation of the country since we all thought after the first two weeks of lockdown things would have gone back into places and we will resume our activities that has been on hold. But Reverse is the case when the number of people being infected by this virus increases everyday. And then the federal government has no other option than to declare another two weeks of lockdown. Robbery attack continues in Lagos and Ogun state.
How students gets rid of boredom without shutting off their studies
Despite the fact that some schools in Nigeria has organised online lectures for their students.A lot of activities has been happening during the lockdown especially on social media platforms. There has been lots of challenges like dance challenge where students will have to upload a video of themselves dancing to a particular song. Its more or less a contest where the winner will be announced. Online singing challenge too is one of the boredom killer that students make use of.
The advantages of lockdown on families
So many parent in the world today are fully committed to their profession without thinking of the fact that it is necessary they spend quality time with their family especially the children. Although some mothers on their own part create time to cook for their children, help them with their home works and guide them on social etiquettes and the parental guidance the their children need while there are some mothers in the world who takes their work more serious than their family most especially their children. It starts from the part where mothers carry their babies to crèche very early in the morning and comes back late at night to pick them all in the name of work. Some mothers on the other hand relies on employing nannies for their children, forgetting the fact that the nannies maltreats children in their absences and in many cases teach them a lot of horrible habits.
Fathers on the other hand believes that they have no other responsibility once they work hard to make the family buoyant financially. It is more than that in terms of raising the children with the upper hand of their mother. So many fathers travel far away and leaves their family for a very long time all in the name of work.
Now that COVID-19 has come into existence and works has to be suspended due to the lockdown policy that is being laid down all over the world. Parents has no option than to stay indoor with their children. This has led to the bringing together of families. It has also made parents to develop intimacy with their children. It has brought more closeness between couples.
The idea of lockdown came up mainly to reduce and to erase the virus that has been tormenting the world. But reverse is the case when the record of COVID-19 increases in number everyday. There is no other option than to extend the lockdown by two weeks again after we have been on lockdown for four weeks.
As the lockdown continues there is the high tendency that the less privileged are prone to hunger only if the government intervene by sharing of foodstuff to the community. We also hope the case of robbery in Lagos and Ogun state will come to an end. As the lockdown continues parent will get to know their children the more and children will know more of their parent. Students on the other hand will have to continue with their online class and online challenges that is going viral.
