For me, these are the reasons why Hive is not yet adopted by the masses:

  1. Post privacy controls. There should be an option (like in conventional social media) to show posts only to a specific set of users (non-public posting). Maybe use the recipients' public memo key to encrypt the message for this. Removing rewards for non-public posts is okay to prevent circle voting.
  2. Private messaging feature. While (encrypted) private messaging is technically possible between two Hive users, a non-technical user would find it really difficult to use if there is no dedicated (d)app for it.
