No, they should not, but I am sure they are very aware of what is going on in the space nevertheless.
Firstly, blockchain technologies (decentralized and trustless transaction systems) are unrelated to both companies core businesses.
As for Facebook specifically, any previous attempt at a decentralized social network, namely Diaspora, has failed to gain traction.
As for Google, a search engine can inherently not been run based on blockchains. This is because the entire algorithm that a blockchain uses is by definition known publicly. Google however derives is success from the fact that the search ranking algorithm is not entirely public, so that websites cannot ‘game’ it.
