DISCUSSION: Is Red Bull the next Coca-Cola?

in #question8 years ago

Hi, Everyone! Today is my first day on steemit and I'd like to test the waters, so here is my first post!

Earlier this morning, I found myself thinking about Energy Drinks and how they've grown to be as popular as they are today. I did a quick google search to determine the most popular energy drinks which led me to Red Bull.

*I am in no way affiliated with Red Bull nor do I recommend drinking energy drinks.

From what I've gathered, the success of Red Bull doesn't have much to do with the drink itself, but rather the company's growth/marketing strategy.

Below is my interpretation of Red Bull's business model:

This strategy allows them to steadily (and rapidly) expand their brand through sponsorships and Student Ambassadors. Over the past 30 years, the company has evolved into a sponsoring/advertising company with a big influence in both sports and academics. In my opinion, this model will allow Red Bull to retain its position as the #1 energy drink for a long time to come. This leads to main reason I wrote this post.

I'd like to know what everyone's thoughts are:

  • Will Red Bull be the "Coca-Cola of energy drinks"?

  • Where does this leave its competitors (Monster, Amp, etc.)?

  • What are they doing to keep up with Red Bull's success?

Thanks for taking the time to read my first post :)
Please feel free to share your thoughts and opinions below!
