The jump from agriculture to modern life is quick in comparison to the length of time it took for modern humans to develop agriculture. It would be interesting to know the reasons behind this some of which may be found in the un-contacted tribes in the Amazon, would it be worth will to have contact with these tribes and contaminate them with modernity however learn much about there culture and pre-agricultural times?
would be worthwhile, that's the essence of Agricultural extension.
Agricultural extension might come into play, it seems as we could support more humans within an areas due to the efficiency of farming compared to hunter gathering might have allowed for the sharing of knowledge as found in agricultural extension. Though I am making a hypothesis that this is just one of the many reasons that has lead to the rapid development of the modern world.
