I got the chance to shoot a reggae electronic fusion band from Manchester, The Mamosians. We met in a cave near Mam Tor in Derbyshire with the intention of shooting inside the cave with smoke grenades and flashguns in the dark.
Sometimes I shoot an image where I think, why did I not shoot this in camera? This is a totally Photoshopped flip job but the next time I visit this cave, I intend to shoot this all in one exposure! This was shot with an iPhone while we were waiting for the light to fade to darkness.
This is Frosty, the electronic wizard and musician that makes the magic work. He's very camera shy and the challenge here was to get a promo shot from someone who doesn't normally feel comfortable in front of a camera. I must have done something right because he was very pleased with the shots I got:
And this was an experimental shot too where Jan, the lead singer, wanted a portrait shot holding a lantern. I did explain that a white LED lantern might not necessarily work so I tried setting the camera to 2nd curtain rear sync and handheld a longer exposure of 1 second to capture as much light as possible from the lantern. Given more time with this I could probably do better:
This account is intended for alternative stuff I've created which doesn't fit the 'created in one photographic exposure' mantra I usually strive for. I seem to have accumulated images where, with some post processing, they stand up on their own.
