The escalating spread of the coronavirus rattled global markets for another session, sending risk assets tumbling as investors assessed the current and future damage from the virus.

Delta’s move to suspend all flights to China — amid reports that American Airlines may follow suit — help ratchet up coronavirus fears in the market. All major indexes are pinned at session lows in late morning trading, with the S&P 500 (^GSPC), Dow (^DJI) and the Nasdaq (^IXIC) all down by 1% or more.

Passengers who were in lockdown on cruise ship prepare to leave the vessel as medics confirm woman on board does NOT have coronavirus

Passengers who were in lockdown on a cruise ship in the Italian city of Civitavecchia have now been allowed to leave after confirmation that two people on board do not have coronavirus.

The Costa Smeralda ship - carrying 7,000 people including some Britons - had been kept on the ship since Thursday morning after a 54-year-old Chinese woman from Macau came down with flu-like symptoms the previous night.

Russia closes its Far East border with China in an attempt to prevent the spread of new coronavirus

Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin has signed an order to close the country's border with China in the Far East, Russia's largest and most remote region.
It follows instructions from Vladimir Putin on Wednesday for officials to do all they can to prevent the spread of the dangerous new Chinese coronavirus.

Has coronavirus reached AFRICA? Sudan and Equatorial Guinea quarantine six patients with symptoms of the killer SARS-like infection

The two patients in Sudan – a country in the northeast of Africa – had returned from Wuhan, the Chinese city at the heart of the escalating outbreak.

The man and woman are currently being monitored by doctors. Officials have not yet confirmed their identities or locations.

No other details have yet emerged for the Sudanese residents. The news agency Reuters said it was given the information by a minister.
