We need to talk about #systemic #racism... (Ex-student accused of harassing black roommate avoids hate crime charge)

in #racism7 years ago (edited)

So... do y'all remember this one?

So I've been following the peculiar case of Brianna Brochu of Harwington, Connecticut (No, I WILL not collect a fucking call from Connecticut) for a while and as a black man's luck would have it that Beckizilla over here was able to convince an entire jury of white people that her smearing bodily fluids over her "Jamaican barbie" roommate's personal effects had nothing to do with the colour of her victim's skin.
I dealt with housemates like this in my time during uni. The awkward "I'm gunna go nigger-bashing, jk" joke can quickly escalate to finding a machete in the middle of the day when you call it sick and your weirdo housemate leaves their door ajar.
Life and bullshit like this is superlatively normal for black people so I'm not going to make this a rant on white people this white people that I can't I don't have the crayons.

You know what they are! For the most part they can be thrown around so frequently you don't even catch them all but its' easy as hell to miss the one word, or joke, or phrase that really should clue you into what kind of person you're dealing with. This stretches further than race tbh give people enough time to speak and they will often tell you who they are by the things they say and the things they choose not to say/ignore.

No excuses, get out there are live your best blackity black life.
