Unguarded Level Crossings Like This Are Quite Awful

There's only a single one in the city of 120,000 that live in that I know of, coming straight out of a malting house, which is why the trains always run very, very slowly.

There are more of these in the countryside and about 2000 of them are unguarded. There are several in a village a few kilometers to where I live that I've taken photos of trains before. Trains on that particular track are rare. But their speed is typically around 60 km/h. Up north in the municipality where my maternal grandparents lived, the track is electrified and there are passenger trains all the time whose speeds are around 100-160 km/h. The trains are silent as they are electric. I'm glad I don't live in the immediate vicinity of any unguarded level crossings.
