Randonèe - exploring mountains in the winter

in #randonee7 years ago (edited)

One of my favorite activities

Randonèe is french and means "to go hiking" we do it with big powderskis. In Vesterålen we walk and climb mountains from shorelines and hundreds of meters to the summits. Most of our summits are between 400msl to 1200msl.

For me this is a perfect way to explore nature and getting adrenaline, but it is also recreation. Getting out there while there is untuched powder together with good friends are some of my highlights in the wintertime.

This picture is from fifth of march 2017 togheter with @ialokin and his friend from France. There were breathtaking conditions in both snow and weather.

The summit we were at is called Kvittinden 696msl, it is located near a little place called Laupstad in the middle of Vesterålen and Lofoten islands.

In Vesterålen we have various of mountains to explore. Some are high and steep and others are lower and rounder. It makes the area perfekt for all levels of experience.

The picture below are taken at the summit of Motinden 625msl located at Hadsel island in Vesterålen. The summit of Motinden is quite steep and you should have good technique if you want it to be fun. In the horizion you can see a various of summits at Norways larges island called Hinnøya.

At the time of writing I am working on a short video about my 2017. It will include some skiing. Hope you will take a look when it is ready.

Beautiful photos, bro!

Good to hear that! A awesome hike!

Nice! Was just toppturing in Haukeli - considering Lofoten later this year - have you ever been?

Thank you! Let me know if you go. I have been at some trips in Lofoten, but a lot in Vesterålen where I live. Vesterålen is just a little drive north of Lofoten, less turists, more mountains :)

Will do :) Following and upvoted !
