THE British High Commissioner to Brunei Darussalam Richard Lindsay, alongside more than 100 guests last night witnessed the unveiling of the long-awaited Range Rover Velar – the fourth addition to Range Rover’s SUV family – at Radisson Hotel in Bandar Seri Begawan.
The new Range Rover Velar comes with three variants, namely the Velar Base SE, Velar R-Dynamic SE, and Velar First Edition – which possesses a 380PS, 3.0 litre V6 petrol engine.
Land Rover’s history of luxury SUVs runs back to 1970 when the original Range Rover was first introduced. This spirit of innovation has endured for almost half a century with the introduction of the new Range Rover Velar. The new mid-size luxury SUV has been designed with elegant simplicity, a visually reductive approach and pioneering consumer technology.
Yang Amat Mulia Pengiran Anak Haji Abdul Ghaffar bin Pengiran Indera Setia Diraja Sahibul Karib Pengiran Anak Haji Idris, Managing Director of Indera Motors Sdn Bhd – the official distributor of Range Rover and Jaguar vehicles in Brunei – in his speech highlighted that “the Range Rover family has grown over the years and is now Britain’s largest luxury vehicle export, spanning the entire globe, and covering grounds where no other vehicle dare to tread”,
The new Range Rover Velar, the managing director described, “delivers new levels of refinement, elegance and technology. It fills up the white space between the Range Rover Evoque and the Range Rover Sport. With the impressive state-of-the-art Touch Pro Duo infotainment system featuring two high-definition 10-inch touchscreens for unrivalled functionality and intuitive operation, and the compelling, stand-out exterior designs with the debut of the flush deployable door handles, the New Range Rover Velar is the avant-garde Range Rover.” capability is one of Land Rover’s signature DNA traits, and the new Range Rover Velar is most definitely not lacking this aspect – the car is armed with such standard features as All-Wheel Drive with Intelligent Driveline Dynamics and Torque Vectoring by Braking to deliver a connected drive; Electronic Air Suspension; All Terrain Progress Control; Terrain Response; and an Active Rear Locking Differential, giving that extra comforting confidence to drivers who plan on going off-road. Yesterday evening’s close-up viewing of the all-new Range Rover Velar certainly sated a significant bit of the public’s curiosity, especially after an uncomfortable wait since the car’s world premiere in the UK back in March this year.
General Manager of Indera Motors Sdn Bhd Alfred Yong Foh Sen said of the car’s Brunei launch, “After the world premiere of the new Range Rover Velar, we received overwhelming inquiries from our customers as well as the general public.
“Land Rover continues to grow stronger with this new addition and we feel proud to be part of their journey by delivering the Range Rover Velar to the Brunei public.”
Guests at the launch to booked test drive appointments for the new model. Every purchase of the new Range Rover Velar comes with a five-year free service plan, three-year warranty and three-year roadside assistance.
Indera Motors Sdn Bhd will be one of the automotive dealers participating in the Brunei Motor Show at Bridex, Jerudong from October 28-29, where they will showcase the new Range Rover Velar as well as other Land Rover models.
