Hey guys, my order finally arrived today. In addition to the brand new Raspberry Pi 5, 16GB RAM, which was only recently released, I also received all the accessories I need for my next projects. The Pi 5 with a whopping 16GB of RAM was released on January 09, 2025 and I went straight for it. I was able to get some good bargains from the supplier Berrybase - also for the accessories.
I ordered the following products in my order:
- Raspberry Pi 5, 16GB RAM
- Raspberry Pi 27W USB-C power supply, black
- Raspberry Pi Active Cooler, fan for Raspberry Pi 5
- Acrylic case for Raspberry Pi 5 + Active Cooler, stackable
- SanDisk Extreme microSDXC A2 UHS-I U3 V30 190MB/s memory card
- official Raspberry Pi Micro HDMI cable, black, 2,0m
For approx. 180,-€.
What am I going to use the Raspberry Pi 5, 16GB RAM for? Well, the answer is quite simple - I will install Linux on it and then run about 10 DePin projects 24/7 to participate in the DePin networks - but since Linux is already installed, I will take the opportunity to build more small tools that do continuous tasks - e.g. something like the HoloZing claim script from @emrebeyler who published it a few days ago. I might decide later to get an NVME extension to install another backup system for my 3 Witness nodes (HIVE, HIVE engine, SPS validator). You can already do a lot of great things with it and that with 27 watts of energy consumption. So it's a no-brainer. I'm also a technology nerd who loves new technical gadgets.
So, let's go ahead and assemble and install the powerful Pi.
See Ya!
Not to forget here: Thanks to @jedigeiss and a Pi a lot years ago <3 it's still alive!
My Raspberry Pi 4, 8GB RAM,
has been idle for a long time😭
That's pretty impressive. I have been really impressed with the BeeLink devices lately too. So you can run the SPS node software on a Pi? It must not be as intensive as I thought it was. I have a M2 Mac Mini at home that I will probably run the node software on when it becomes available to the other license holders. I keep that machine on all the time as a media server anyway.
Not bad just 27Watt like smartphone, even my laptop requires more. 👍
Also can you clarify more detail what is the DePin networks?
