I read both print and digital. Like you said, I think the key is to just read, regardless of the format. I just started back to college, and both of my books are digital, which is a bit annoying, not as easy to thumb through, and I have to log onto the site where the book is, (because it's a digital rental)! But half the price.
Personally, I think what's changing is that younger generations are reading more "poppy" stuff. Meaning blogs from some 10-minute celebrity with a third-grade vocabulary. I think they did a study that showed how vocabulary in music lyrics has steadily dropped, decade by decade, to third-grade reading levels.
It's like the same with comics. Some don't mind the digital comic format, but some want the actual book. There will ALWAYS be a market for those that want the physical, pulpy-paper copy in hand.
