Hello Steemlove
Its another wonderful day and we would be discussing something interesting and educating. As an adult, chances are that you have at one point or another been faced with criticism, whether negative or positive or constructive, there has bben an opposition or contrary opinion to your actions, thoughts or beliefs.
What is Criticism?
The dictionary defines it as "the expression of disapproval of someone or something on the basis of perceived faults or mistakes."
criticism basically is a form of disapproval and mostly this comes on something that the individual feels is accurate, for example, An individual could be comfortable keeping to themselves when around people until they face criticism as to that effect.
criticism could come in any way on anything and should be taken as a lesson and step up for forward movement in life. One of the ways i am able to accept criticism is by believing that, for criticism to come, it means i am doing something well.
Most adults fall into the pit of getting offended, shrinking back or putting an abrupt end to something they are criticized about, this i believe is not the best response to criticism. For every successful venture, business, leadership or people, there must be a level of opposition and it is your resposibility to learn from this instead of just being negatively affected.
How to Manage Criticism
Listen: This is a major part of progress, being able to erase defensiveness and listen carefully to what is being said. Most times, i have found out that i have learnt a lot from being criticized and this will do you a lot of good.
Have a positive perception: The truth is that most people in their minds feel a state of perfection such that they believe that most of the things they do are good. this is one factor that makes criticism always feel negative. However, if you take the mindset that there is always something to learn, it is easier to perceive criticism in a correct light and receive it positively.
Don't be too hard on yourself: When some adults have come to terms with wrong actions they have taken, the walk slowly into depression by trying to discipline themselves. when you accept that you are wrong, the healthiest thing to do is accept it and learn to be better, as trying to feel bad doesn't help the situation most times.
Say thank you: This is very important because i believe it takes a lot of efforts for someone to come up with something that opposes your line of thoughts, because they could be taken as rude or negative. So when you are criticized show gratitude and appreciation allowing the person know that they have done some help to you.
These simple steps towards criticism would help redefne how you respond and manage these things. there is so much more to be said including real life situations, therefore i would be expecting you on the show tonight to share with you and hear from you.
Thank you.
