When Society Doesn't Accept You For Who Your Are

in #reality2 years ago

A man spent 12 years in prison but being inside he said was not that hard at all.

People have their own choices to live a life. Our choices could be hard to deal with for anyone while others carefully choose certain things before making a decision.

Some people were born rich and some are not. There are people who were born a cripple, blind, deaf or in short were not born with a normal physical body. Most of us were born with complete five senses and some even had more than that.

I, for example, can say that I lived a hard life during my early childhood. The fact that I was not born rich was literally hard for me as a kid. But as I grow older, I realize that being poor or being born without the ability to see is not really hard. We can make things right and become successful if we can find solutions on how to escape poverty. In the same manner our imagination can make us see things even if we have zero visibility.

What is really the hardest part in life?

In my introduction line a man who was convicted and spent life in prison for more than a decade was remarkable with his thoughts.
I saw this video on YouTube about a homeless man sitting near a gasoline station being interviewed by a guy. The man talks about life and humanity. He shares to the other guy about how he felt about society. About how he lives now that society seems to not accept him anymore.

Society. There's a lot of good people out there but for the most part, most people, all they care about is themselves. You could be standing there on the corner bleeding and people just drive by and they wouldn't want no part of it. They wouldn't want any part of the drama. Did there be one in ten that might stop and help?

People. What so many people have? What they have been through makes them so terrified of relationships that they just don't want anything to do with nobody. It's sad to see that most people don't. It's just sad because there's so many beautiful things in life. Relationships are beautiful but nobody wants relationships.

They want the kind of relationships where they can be who they want to be and be who they are. Instead of being who they are, be who they want to be and pretend to be.

“The hard part wasn't going to prison, it was getting out and trying to be part of society again.”

Those lines are some of what the man had just said in the video. I felt sorry for him for how society has treated him now. While I am watching and listening to every word he spoke, somehow I realize that he has a point.

This guy seems to be rejected by society. We know the feeling of being rejected. It’s really hard when you want to blend in but people don’t want any part of you anymore. They don’t want to get connected with you because they don’t want to be involved. Especially if they know that you have messed with the law. People will judge you. They will not give you a second chance. They will become afraid of you.
Consider what is happening today. There were reports on the news that some people harassed their neighbor because they knew that the family had been infected by the virus. They wanted the family to be eradicated from their place. Physical distancing could be one means to avoid being infected but this doesn’t mean that we have to end our relationship with people.

There was also news about racial discrimination around the world and the worst was that it resulted in serious injuries even death.
There are still a lot of good people. There is good in all of us but as the man said most people only think for themselves. People rush to a certain vaccination area and form a crowd. Everyone wants to get vaccinated first, neglecting the risk of being infected in the crowd. The worst part - fake news.

You will realize just then that having a physical disability or living in poverty is not really hard at all. The hardest part is when society doesn't accept you for who you are. When society rejects you to become part of it.

We can all make a negative influence in somebody's life but if we can be a positive difference maybe there is something worth caring about.
