How To Make A Spaghetti Grilled Cheese Sandwich (Buttery, Cheesy Goodness)

in #recipe8 years ago

Growing up I always loved it when my mom made garlic bread so I could put my spaghetti on top and eat it like a sandwich. Leftovers I loved eating on plain white bread. As an adult, I like to take my spaghetti and garlic bread to a new level by putting them together with a few extra ingredients.

The First Step Is Acquire or Make Spaghetti!

Leftover spaghetti from a restaurant works great or you can make your own. If you want to make your own all you basically need are spaghetti noodles and sauce. I love meat sauce because the meat gives the spaghetti a better flavor and more substance.

Here's My 20 Minute Recipe For Spaghetti

Step 1. Bring a pot of water to a boil and add a dash of salt to the water. Once the water is boiling put your spaghetti noodles in the water and cook until it is tender but not mushy. IMG_6611.jpg

Step 2. Cook Your Meat: I had ground beef on hand but sometimes I mix it with ground sausage. I cook it until all the pink is gone. Drain any grease out. IMG_6609.JPG

Step 3: Add Your Sauce: My mom always used Hunts meat flavored sauce. There are better sauces out there but sometimes I love Hunts just because it reminds me of childhood. Use whatever sauce you want.

Step 4: The Secret Ingredients: Tony Chachere's Creole Seasoning and Italian Seasoning: My mom is cajun so she always put cajun spice in her spaghetti. I use Tony Chachere's in spaghetti sauce, hamburgers, meatloaf, soups....pretty much anything. It's a great spice. I use about half a teaspoon. It gives the spaghetti a bit of a kick but it's not too spicy with just half a teaspoon. I also add half a teaspoon of Italian Seasoning. It adds a little something to the sauce. Heat the sauce until you see a little grease rise on top of the sauce.

Mix Noodles And Sauce And You Have Spaghetti!

Now Onto The Spaghetti Grilled Cheese Sandwich

Step 1: Butter two pieces of bread. Whatever bread you want to use. I used white bread but french bread would also be great. Go crazy and be creative. You could even use a tortilla shell and make a spaghetti burrito! Sprinkle a bit of garlic powder onto the butter if you want a garlic bread flavor.

Step 2: Warm your spaghetti. I used leftover spaghetti so mine was cold. Warm it up just a bit. You don't want it steaming. If it is straight out of the fridge then you risk having a cold center to your sandwich.

Step 3: Heat a pan on medium-high heat. Put one piece of bread butter side down.

Step 4: Put on your cheese. I used mozzarella and a dash of parmesan but my husband likes cheddar cheese.

Step 5: Put the spaghetti on top of the cheese.

Step 6: Put another layer of cheese then put your other piece of bread on the top.

Step 7: Cook until golden brown then flip over. Cook again until golden brown and your done!

The bread is buttery and crispy. The cheese is gooey. I made this sandwich a little light because it was lunch so I didn't want a thick sandwich. You could load it up with more spaghetti, meatballs, more cheeses.
