My god that just looks heavenly! A couple of questions though - when you say a can of tomato sauce do you mean pasata or the thick concentrated puree? Also would cooking it in the oven on a low heat while covered suffice, rather than on the hob?

I used a can of Hunts brand tomato sauce, the label simply said "Tomato Sauce".
Yes in the oven on a low heat should be fine as well for the "slow cooking" portion. I myself prefer to use a thermal cooker as it saves on energy costs, but we work with what we have of course :)
I hope you post pictures when you've given the recipe a shot!
