The rise of minimal happened at a pretty formative moment in my life where I was just starting to come into my own as a DJ and really introduced to me the idea of restraint in making music. Today, I'm showing off one of my favorite moments.
In the heyday of minimal, there were few artists quite as important as Luciano. His star has faded a bit over the decade, but some of these tracks still embody the spirit of the genre. Released as a white label due to the samples from the score of the film Amelie, this track features all the clicks and pops of minimal with the theatrics of a movie in a way that is perfectly suited to sunrise on a beach.
