When something is top 40 I try and stay away from it like a lot of people do. I don't want to conform to the masses, I want to believe my taste is different and I'm a special snowflake. But shit, every once in a while Drake puts on a song I can't deny. Last time it was Hold On We're Going Home from a few years ago. I liked that track because its soulful, melodic nature was a little different from the hip hop he usually puts out.
Drake knows you'll eventually like one of his tracks

I don't often like new age rap or most of Drake, but I respect the man from a business perspective. He's a total hit-making machine, and it seems he's figured out the formula. I respect the man's hustle. Who predicted the wheelchair kid from Degrassi was going to be the most commercially successful rapper of this era.
This song is done by Bloc Boy JB featuring Drake and has become a roaring success in the last couple months, debuting at #6 on the Billboard Hot 100. It features steady, head bobbing beat with thick bass and rhythmic drum taps, but there are some shadowy piano chords in between that add an ominous feeling - yet it's a total party song. The small piano section vaguely reminds me of Kendrick Lamar's Humble. The beat produced by Tay Keith and Silent Assassin for "Look Alive" isn't overly complex, it does its job and doesn't try to get in the way of Drake and BlocBoy JB's rhymes. But when I played this with the volume and bass all the way up I started to get why the young kids like this kind of shit. If I was their age I'd probably be listening to it too.
The song has partly taken off because its real easy to do the Shoot Dance along with it. I'm not as obsessed with this dance as a lot of others but its slowly growing on me. If you wanna see some unreal dancing to this song though check out the second video I posted below!
