Sometimes I feel very guilty about how much of wastage that happens on a regular basis in my home. Whether it is discarding old clothes, shoes, kitchenware, household items or anything. I am consciously trying to recycle as much as possible whatever I can. For clothes and footwear, I donate it in old age homes and orphanages, only the ones which are in good condition. Some which are in very poor condition, I use them for cleaning purpose or as covers for certain items by cutting and reshaping them.
This time I wanted to buy a Christmas tree for my new villa, the initial plan was to buy a new one but then I realized that I have a tree in my Muscat home which I will not be using any more there. I was going to remove it and then I thought I should bring it to Mumbai and use it for my new home. It's a big tree, not very convenient to bring it in flight. I disassembled it and put it in the suitcase, along with all the ornamentals. It was a hassle carrying 2 suitcases and I had to compromise on carrying my own luggage as I had to fit everything in the weight I could carry. I was 2 kgs extra though, the lady at the check-in counter was kind enough to let it pass.
Now that I have got it home, I feel so happy and good about it. Firstly, I saved money and then that I could use up my old tree only and not let it go waste. Likewise in the past few months I have carried a lot of things from Muscat to Mumbai for my new home, trying to not buy things what I already have as much as possible. For few months I will have to compromise on usage of certain things but then its ok.
I want to reuse all my old things as much as possible till it can absolutely not be used. And then I need to figure out how to dispose it off in the best possible manner. In Muscat we have a good system, there are big boxes placed at many public places where one can dispose of their old clothes and things. Recycling I have not yet been full fledge into it but reusing I am trying to make my best efforts for whatever I can.
When I go for shopping, I make it a point to carry my own handbag and not take bags from the shop. All these shopping plastic and paper bags are a big-time waste and a major contributor to pollution.
These little mindful actions if taken by each one of will make a huge difference.
Thank you for visiting my blog. 👼🏻👼🏻💖💖🌹🌺🌸

Yes we should use old things until they are usable and look quite good, while I'm happy that the lady at the check-in counter allows you to pass you easily and you got your Christmas tree at home 😀
I also love to reuse old stuff, I fell it's wastage if I just dumped them
