We were in Glasgow a couple of weeks back, and when down walking by the River Clyde, it was really still and casting up some nice reflections.
The picture above is the one I'm entering as there is so much going on in it:
- Two oblong buildings reflecting nicely,
- The bridge at the far end is actually a disued railway bridge,
- And then you have the ship escape launch systems - the orange stuff !
The building on the left (blue) is actually the City of Glasgow College, and the ship escape launch systems are part of their Marine Skills Centre. They must provide sea survival training for things like the oil industry and shipping, which are both big things in Scotland noting that we around surrounded by the sea on 3 sides (the Atlantic to the west and north, and the North Sea to the east).
The old railway bridge is quite pretty, and I have heard proposals to re-open the line at some point (it comes up every 10 years or so).
Heres another view of the college - the river is not often as still as this, as its quite a large river and is normally flowing fairly fast.
And just beside the college is another pretty bridge, called the Albert Bridge (named after Queen Victoria's husband).
I also took a pic of the view below looking further down the Clyde in the direction of Glasgow City Centre - but the reflections were not so good.
Well it was quite nice day for reflections, and helped with my entries for the competition this week !

All the best on the contest.
there are a lot going on in the first photo which is awesome.
Why they don't use the old railway anymore, is there a safety issue? would be nice to board the train and see that kind of scenery.

There was a review of the British Railway infrastructure in the 1960s. It had grown quite large at the time and was costing more to run than it was generating in income. A lot of the lesser used lines which were costing too much money to run got axed - and I assume this is one of them. However, Glasgow still has two major railway stations and tons on other little ones as it has a number of commuter lines - so it is still well served by rail ! Thanks for the interest !
