Charles and Debbie were in a two year old relationship in which they were very happy; and were planning their marriage when Charles met someone else and ended the relationship.
As you can understand, Debbie was very upset and bitter. She walked out of the flat with just her clothes and nothing else. She found a suitable flat and did a mammoth shop to stock up on everything else. From curtains to teaspoons and linen to a lounge suite; and everything in between, as well as kettle, iron and microwave.
Fortunately Debbie had a good job as a computer programmer, and flexi-time, so she had no financial problems. The break-up didn't affect her work.
Six weeks later she realized that she was pregnant. Her options were - tell Charles or not -
have the baby or not . After some serious thinking, she went with -don't tell Charles and have the baby. She surfed the net for all the information she could find about babies, bought magazines and books. First she found a room plan she liked and turned her spare room into a nursery. As for the rest, the numbers of clothing changes, nappies (as many as possible)

Cot and pram linen, baby blankets and toiletries, and some bright stuffed toys, she got them all. By the time she was six months pregnant she had it all done. She could rest, with the nursery furnished and all the clothes packed away.
Debbie arranged with her job to have two months off when the baby was born, and had a Child-care provider for when she went back to work.
The plans worked fine, Debbie had a daughter, Frances with no problems arising. She was absolutely entranced with this small baby, who looked like just like her mother. The two months at home were difficult in the beginning, learning what Frances needed and wanted, but oh so enjoyable.
When Debbie went back to work she missed Frances so much. She had so little time with the baby, so she started looking for work that she could do from home and send via the net. Her firm told her they would be happy for her to work from home; and so she did. She got a mothers' helper and she had a lot more time with Frances.
When Frances was six months old and they were out walking with Frances in a push chair, they met Charles by accident. He asked if Frances was his and she said yes, but she didn't want anything from him. They stood politely talking to each other. Charles said that he had recently married Gwen, so they wished each other well and went their separate ways.
Debbie was so glad to have Frances and she didn't turn to look back at Charles, or see the unhappy look on his face.
