It's said that in every human is a need to be loved-- we want to be loved by something or someone. And this craving can only be satisfied through good relationships. The quality of a person's life is dependent on the quality of their relationship(s). You cannot compensate for your lack good relationship with material things. Irrespective of the amount of wealth one can amass, it will never be on par with a feeling of being genuinely loved and appreciated.
We meet people every day. Some we may never see again, but our impression on them can leave a lasting effect that we even precede our memory in their mind. I remember my first best friend, well, he is the first that I remember. His name was Meshu (i hope I spelled that correctly). I was barely five years old but the thought of him still warms my heart to date, even though the last time I saw him was nineteen years ago.
I believe our struggles in life would be reduced to a barely minimum if we knew the right people to connect with. In my country this is called 'connection.' You're connected if you know the right people in the right places who can pull strings in your favor. It doesn't have to be someone at the top, sometimes its even the person you deem most insignificant that has what you need at that particular time. Once I had issues with my bank account which would have taken me about a week to resolution but fortunately for me, I've been nice to this security man who works for the bank. It's amazing what a smile and a little acknowledgement can do. For me it hastened a process that would have taken longer than I expect, thanks to security personnel. Many might deem this unethical in some way but the reality is that things like this happen, and some of us have gained things we do not merit because of our relationship with certain people. Who you know is more important than what you know, they say. This doesn't apply in every situation but it plays a fundamental role in your growth as an individual and the number of opportunities at your disposal. Let's even bring this home to this platform--steemit. For those who have been here long enough, they will tell you that the best way to boost your reputation on steemit is by socialising--commenting, upvoting, etc you might have a well-written article but if no one visits your page its almost as good as nothing--the whole effort and time put into achieving such quality post. So its imperative that you engage people-- the right people. I even subscribe that you engage more than you write.
Your influence on steemit can go beyond the boundaries of this platform and open doors to new opportunities, and even relationships that will enrich you. This might be the chance for you to meet that business partner that will help build your business, or a friend who would help with your depression, or the love of your life, yes it's possible. It can be more than just writing articles and making money.
