I have decided to study The Quran. This is for #discussion open to all regardless of religious views. Please contribute respectively to the dialogue. I have seen how extreme and disrespectful people can become when given a chance to hold meaningful dialogue about such topics. I am not here to interpret The Quran but gain knowledge, understanding and other’s point of view. I would like to hear anyone's interpretation and analogy of these verses if it remains respectful towards the religion. I will not post a Surah (chapter) until I have read it and have something meaningful and a personal take on it to contribute to the discussion. I will not post a Surah in my post rather if I speak on a certain verse I will mention the verse I am referring to. I am currently studying The Quran and Hadiths. The Hadiths were compiled by Imām al-Bukhārī.
Al-Fatihah is the first Sura (chapter) of The Quran. It has 7 ayahs (verses). In The Opening there are three names for God: Allah, The Gracious and The Merciful (correct me if I am wrong). I want to memorize The Opening because it sounds more like a prayer to me. I do not speak Arabic but when I listened to it in Arabic it sounded more like a song to me. (1:4) talks about Revelations and give insight into how we will be judged in (Sura 1 Ayah 6- 7) where it states to look for Allah to guide you so that you may not be misguided.
I always loved this subject. You know, in religion there are so many similarities and few changes, but those changes makes a big difference. I believe the religion is about how you understand it, not how you read it, can make you feel confused.
You make a great point and it is hard to make an interpretation or to say you understand something that is based on your own understanding and it not be excepted by that specific religious community. The irony is that is how our major religions got their start.
Seems to me that you have previous knowledge on the subject? Nothing wrong with studying the Koran or any other books in order to better understand the beliefs of others. 1 Peter 3:15-17
I am going through each chapter and writing about what I read. I want to also expand on what I read so I look and read other things if I do not understand what a word is or a certain recognized day. I don't have previous knowledge on this subject in particular but I am aware of the stories of the bible and common beliefs.
It is a very insightful and enlightening book.
Surat Al-Fatiha with Urdu interpretation.
Recitation by: Sudais and Shuraym.
English Translation:
For the sake of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful.
Acclaim be to Allah, Lord of the Worlds,
The Beneficent, the Merciful.
Ace of the Day of Judgment,
Thee (alone) we revere; Thee (alone) we request offer assistance.
Demonstrate to us the straight way,
The way of those whom Thou hast favored; Not the (way) of the individuals who win Thine outrage nor of the individuals who wander off-track. @abdullatifphadia
In Islam, Sura Al-Fatiha (Arabic: سورة الفاتحة), (Sūratul-Fātihah, "The Opener") is the first chapter of the Qur'an. Its seven verses are a prayer for Allah's guidance, and stress His Lordship and Mercy. This chapter has an essential role in Salaat (daily prayer)
It is the first Surah of Quran. It is mandatory to recite it in Every rakah of every Salah. Here we are actually praising Allah, mentioning His greatness, kindness. Then we pray to Him to keep us in righteous way and keep away from those who are misguided and cursed.
