Don´t forget that Jerusalem was destroyed in 33AD and the Israelites had to flee for their lives as they where chased by the romans. The route many of them took was back to Africa via the dead sea where we have found a lot of historical documents known collectively as "the dead sea scrolls", which is incredible valuable historical documents that people hid away as they where fleeing.
Since then, Jerusalem and the areas around was pretty much a big pile of ruins with a few gardens and fields - but in 1948 the State of Israel was established, and settled by eastern europeans who where "jews" by religion and not by origin.

I believe Mt Sinai has been covered up so that nobody would ask questions about the real origin of the citizens of Jerusalem, where they had come from - and where they left.
There is a saying among Arabs: "You (the jews) left as a black man, and came back as a white man"
Which is a much bigger story that covers at least 4000 years of historic data and for sure will step on the toes of many.
