CONFESSION CAN SAVE US OUT.
Confession of Sin - Why Do It? Many of us have trouble with the concept of sin. It is difficult to accept that even when we are trying to be good,
there are areas of our life that remain sinful. We may still harbor lusts, or tell lies, or make hurtful comments to others. Hard as it is to accept our failures, it may be even harder to confess them - even privately in prayer to God and before the Priest of God through sacramental confession. Clearly however, that is what God requires:
"If we confess our sins, he is faithful and
just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness" (1 John 1:9).
For the Christian, confession is not an option. We sin, and we need to confess them, and our life with God goes on. It can't be otherwise.
St. Augustine, the great Christian teacher Bishop and Doctor of the Church in the Roman empire,
noted that "the confession of evil works is the first beginning of good works." People who cover over their sins will not prosper. But if they confess and forsake them, they will receive mercy. Proverbs 28:13
Oh, what joy for those whose rebellion is forgiven, whose sin is put out of sight! Yes, what joy for those whose record the LORD has cleared of sin, whose lives are lived in complete honesty! When I refused to confess my sin, I was weak and miserable, and I groaned all day long. Day and night your hand of discipline was heavy on me. My strength evaporated like water in the summer heat. Finally I confessed all my sins to you and stopped trying to hide them. I said
to myself, "I will confess my rebellion to the LORD ." And you forgave me! All my guilt is gone. Therefore, let all the godly confess their rebellion to you while there is time, that they may not drown in the floodwaters of judgment. Psalm 32:1-6
The great "sin song" of the Bible is Psalm 51, supposed to have been written by King David when he felt guilt over his adultery. The most beautiful thing about the psalm is David's
full confidence that God will accept his repentant heart and restore again his spiritual health.
CONFESSION OF SIN - What DOES IT ACCOMPLISH?
"Confession open the doors of the Church, and then the people will come in & if you keep the light on in the confessional and are available, then you will see what kind of line there is for confession"
"Everyone say to himself : When was the last time I went to confession? And if it has been a long time, don't lose another day! Go, the priest will be good. And Jesus will be there, and Jesus is better than the Priest; Jesus receives you. He will receive you with so much love! Be courageous, and go to confession.
" Some people say, i confess my sins only to God. 'Yes, you can say to God, forgive me, and say your sins. But our sins are also against our brothers, against the Church. This is why it is necessary to ask forgiveness of the Church and of our brothers, in the person of the Priest.

CONFESSION OF SINS ALONE IS NOT WHAT GOD REQUIRES:
He asks that we repent, that we turn away from our sinful activities and turn instead to follow Him.
Repentance : "A turning away from sin, disobedience, or rebellion and a turning back to God. In a more general sense, repentance means change of mind or a feeling of remorse
or regret for past conduct.
True repentance is a 'godly sorrow' for sin, an
act of turning around and going in the opposite direction. This type of repentance leads to a fundamental change in a person's relationship to God."
The Apostle Paul notes this in Acts
3:19-20, There he said:
"Repent, then, and turn to God, so that
your sins may be wiped out, that times of
refreshing may come from the Lord, and
that he may send the Christ, who has
been appointed for you - even Jesus."
Repentance doesn't mean we become
perfect. God understands that even at
our best, we may backslide at times.
However, every time we seek His
forgiveness, we will receive it.
CONFESSION OF SIN AND ITS OUT COM
There is even better news for those who
have learned to confess their sins, to
repent and to turn to God.
The Bible says Jesus Himself will come
to our aid.
"My dear friends, I write this to you so
that you will not sin. But if anybody does
sin, we have one who speaks to the
Father in our defense - Jesus Christ, the
Righteous One. He is the atoning sacrifice for our sins, and not only for ours but also for the
sins of the whole world" (1 John 2:1-2).
When sins are forgiven by God, the Bible says that God does not hold those sins against us. Psalm 103:11-12 says, "For as high as the heavens are above the earth, so great is his love for those who fear him; as far as the east is from the west, so far has he removed our transgressions from us." Since God forgives us, we are called to forgive others . Ephesians 4:32 says, "Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you."
WHAT DO YOU THINK?
We have all sinned and deserve God's judgment. God, the Father, sent His only Son to
satisfy that judgment for those who believe in Him. Jesus , the creator and eternal Son of God, who lived a sinless life, loves us so much that He died for our sins, taking the punishment that we
deserve, was buried, and rose from the
dead according to the Bible. If you truly believe and trust this in your heart, receiving Jesus alone as your Savior , declaring, "Jesus is Lord ," you will be saved from judgment and spend eternity with God in heaven.
