As I understand it, new DNA evidence also shows traces of both Neanderthal & Denisovan genes in modern humans.
I'm not sure what that confirms.
It would confirm that the past of the Earth is very complicated. However, a recent study places the whole population of the world from 6 females who lived around 5000 bc, which is strange since the megalithic ruins found in Turkey lately are proved to be older than 14000 years. So WTF is going on ?
I would say that our understanding is incomplete.
Human ancestry is complex with what appear to be many hybridizations along the way.
A lot further back than a couple of thousand years though.
