Word origins fascinate me, especially when they contradict what they meant originally. For instance the word bigot's origin is from the words 'by God' & originally refered to sanctimonious people or religious hypocrits.
Another interesting word is 'good', which comes from the word 'God'. The word 'goodbye', is derived from the words 'God be with you'. The word 'good' isn't neccesarilly condradicted but is used by many atheists, who ironically do not believe in God.
Now I'd like to get to the word morals, which originates from Pope Gregory the Great's interpretation of the book of Job. I believe people get the words morals & ethics confused. Morals are derived from religion & ethics are based on societal norms. Imo, atheists are unable to have morals, because morals come from the religious views of good vs evil (God vs Devil).
We see archetypes of religion in movies like the Matrix & Star Wars. I find it amusing that so many atheists find these types of movies entertaining, yet detest the religions which they are derived from.
Maybe we're all bigots.
