2 Corinthians 7: 1 "Therefore, beloved, since we have such promises, let us cleanse ourselves from every defilement of flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God."
The fact of not being perfect does not mean a license to sin, because many are excused in that no one is perfect and that is why they allow sin to prey on them.
While it is true that none of us are perfect, that does not mean that we should receive sin with open arms, for the simple fact that we are imperfect and fail. It is one thing to fail and another thing is to get used to continually fail or fail on purpose by putting as excuses human weakness or any other similar, God called us to live in freedom not in debauchery.
Jesus came to earth to show us that you can live in holiness, that you can be tempted in everything, but not sin, is the living example in which we can not refute anything, He came to show us the way we should walk, to teach us by example the proper way to live pleasing God, despite being human and feeling the same as we feel, he decided firmly to make a covenant with God to live in holiness and fulfilled it until the end.
Yes, none of us is Jesus, but we call ourselves "Christians", which means that our model is Jesus Christ, which would have to be translated into imitating his steps, his walk, his testimony, but are we imitating him? Is Christ's image reflected in my life? Am I worthy to call myself a Christian? These are questions that, far from discouraging us, should lead us to reflection as a result of a radical change in our way of life.
When we came to Christ we decided to put an end to the messy life that we had, that life full of sin, which was not moving away from eternal life, but from the moment we gave our lives to the Lord we decided to start following him, start imitating his steps, to be guided by the Holy Spirit and to use his Word as a light for our path. At the same time we renounce sin and we decide to make a commitment with God to live in holiness.
By circumstances of life that commitment will be broken, as we will face situations that want to stain our walk, but how nice it would be that in those moments of inner conflict where the choice to fail or stay in holiness, you can remember that a DAY YOU SAID NOT TO SIN AND TO LIFE THAT CHRIST OFFERED YOU.
It is time to reflect on how our commitment to God is, not about discouraging ourselves on the way, much less surrender to the fact of wanting to be faithful and living in holiness, it is about remembering that ALL we can in Christ that strengthens us, is try to remember that I will never be tempted more than I can bear, it is to remember that one day we ask forgiveness for our sins and therefore we decided to start living a life of holiness, remember that we are called to bear fruits worthy of repentance and that The Lord will recognize us by the fruit of the Holy Spirit in our lives.
Holiness is separated from sin and consecrated to God, not that you are going to put behind glass and not get out of there because now you are holy, no, it is that every day of my existence is reason to remember the commitment I have to live holy and godly as God longs for it to do so.
Do not let sin stain the diploma that is prepared for you, the day of your graduation in heaven, do not allow moments of pleasure to ruin your life, nothing in this world is worth it as to obviate the eternal life prepared for those who persevere to the end.
