This was an excellent post. I struggle with many of these things, including doubting God because of all the abuses I see around me -- those committed by self-proclaiming Christians, and those committed by people that don't claim to be Christian. Thanks for posting.
That's our biggest problem.
Folks tend to blame Jesus because people claiming to be Christians and earnest but fallible true Christians (all of us) fail to live up to His standards.
There is much noise to overcome, but with effort it is still possible to extract a Signal. :)
And most of the things folks argue about don't matter much. What matters is recognizing that God became a human and died so that all we would have to do is trust Him. That's the common denominator of true Christianity.
Of course, we were warned that just before Jesus returns there will be a great falling away. Perhaps that is what we see happening now.
