Christians believe that the Holy Bible, which is often referred to as the Bible, is the infallible Word of God. This therefore means that the same Word is applicable or rather it can be quote in the most central part of Heaven and it will be okay with God. This therefore makes it clear that whatever the Bible says should be taken serious and be applied as is without any form of alteration. It would be interesting to take a close look at some verses:
- Matthew 5: 28 – 'But I tell you that anyone who looks at a woman lustfully has already committed adultery with her in his heart'. Even though the Bible does not say it, but I believe the same applies for woman because some woman have confessed having fallen for this sin. This verse therefore makes every person, mostly males, victims of adultery. The most important thing to note is that once you fall for this sin you must confess and repent immediately.
- Exodus 20:3 – 'you shall have no other gods before me'. Any other person, idol or god that takes the place of God in our hearts makes it an issue before God. In Africa, we know of ancestral and Shembe worship. Both these and many other gods are not acceptable to God.
- Matthew 12:36 – 'But I tell you that men will have to give account on the day of judgement for every careless word they have spoken'. So many time we easily speak and often without thinking. Each of the words we speak shall be revised at the time of judgement. Judgement time is after the earthly life as the Bible says that men shall die once and the be judged.
- Revelation 21:27 – 'Nothing impure will ever enter it, nor will anyone who does what is shameful or deceitful, but only those whose names are written in the Lamb's book of life'. This is very strict. Nothing means zero, no matter the size according to man's standards.
- Matthew 5:29 – 'If your right eye causes you to sin, gouge it out and throw it away. It is better for you to lose one part of your body than for your whole body to be thrown into hell'. Often we say this is a figurative speech yet if indeed your eye or any part of your body gets out of control and makes you a sinner by force, the best you can do is do as the Bible says. The first approach would be to pray to God to help you overcome the sin that comes through that particular body part but if you completely fail, which is unlikely, take the Word as literal. Often we blame the devil for the sins we commit yet sadly we are accountable for each of the sins we commit.
The list is endless. Expository Bibles and commentaries would be handy in understanding what the Bible says yet the ultimate is praying to God for a perfect explanation through the His Spirit.
Great. Thanks for sharing. I'm starting to follow you.
