Ovulation: prevents or helps you conceive

Knowing your ovulation is the key to getting pregnant or preventing pregnancy in a natural way.

Many women don't know when is their ovulation period. Today, i will share to you how to track it. If you are trying to conceive then this is for you.

First you need to know when is the right time to have sexual intercourse, it is during your "fertile window". Fertile window is 5 days before your ovulation, most fertile is on your ovulation day. The life span of sperms is about 5 days while ovum only lives for 24 hours.

What is ovulation?
Ovulation is when a mature egg is released from the ovary, moves down the fallopian tube, and is available in the fallopian tube to be fertilised.

The best time to try conceiving is from day 9 as you ovulation occurs between days 13-15.

For those women who are not aware of their ‘fertile window’ or when they ovulate, sexual intercourse is recommended every 2 to 3 days to help optimise their chance of conceiving.

If you are trying to conceive you must also have a healthy diet : foods rich in folic acid, vitamin C, fiber & omega-3 fatty acid. Avoid excessive smoking, drinking alcohol, weight gain and of course stay away from too much stress.

Ovulation can also be used to prevent pregnancy naturally.
It's called calendar method or rhythm method.
When using this method, you will avoid sexual intercourse during your fertile or unsafe days, or using condoms to be safe. This is not 100% safe, 12-24% of the couples using this method gets pregnant yearly.
