I still have this game for my SNES and I think it's a good game on it's own merits, but I didn't know stuff was cut from the game; had it been in, it would've made the game much more interesting. At the time, Contra 3 was on sale at the video game store I use to go to; now I kick myself for buying this game instead of that one.
Oh well, still a good game regardless.
Good post!!
The game I really liked that was sort of in the Double Dragon genre was Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles IV. That game was a lot of fun although it seemed fairly short. I don't think I ever played Contra 3 but I played a lot of the original Contra on the NES (and some on the Commodore 64 too).
That was Turtles In Time, the best game in ninja turtle history. Also, it would be great if Konami released a compilation of all the Contra games on one disk complete with lots and lots of extras. Day one purchase guaranteed.
Yeah, it seems like compilations like that used to be more common. Nowadays you're expected to download titles like that individually through Nintendo's Virtual Console or Steam or something similar...
True, but hey, who knows what's gonna happen in the future.
