Coming back to the HIVE

in #return9 months ago

Hello Hivers, been a long time.

It's been almost 5 years since my last written post, and in that time I've done and seen quite a bit in my little corner of the real world. I've gained, lost, and found employment again, I've watched as the world's gone a little crazier every day, and writing and crypto fell to the wayside as life took center stage.

I can't say I'll be finishing those stories I began when I first started posting here (if anyone's still following 5 years later, my sincerest apologies!) though I would like to keep writing in some capacity. Maybe that will be in the form of the freewriting contests I've seen from C/Freewriters, or in the form of new stories, or perhaps I'll just decide to put up a post every time an interesting topic comes to mind and see where the conversation takes me.

For now though, as someone who hasn't been truly active or keeping tabs on things since ~2019, how much has changed? It seems like things have been slowly dying down, yet I see plenty of people I was following back in the day still active, as well as plenty of new faces. Splinterlands remains active, though my involvement these days has pretty much been reduced to renting out my Beta cards for the time being. Have any new dApp games come around on the HIVE network with similar levels of activity?

HIVE itself seems to be back where it started in terms of price, is there any particular reason or is this just the market doing it's thing? Not that I plan on holding much, though it is concerning to see it back down so low.

If this all seems a bit disconnected and random, it's because it is. I'm still not 100% on how active I'll be on PeakD and potentially other HIVE-based platforms, but I do know that I'll do my best to stick around as long as things remain relatively active and whatever hosts all these websites remains functional (the inner workings of HIVE remain a mystery to me, if there's any experts out there that wouldn't mind indulging some questions, please let me know!). This is still a social media platform unlike any I've ever seen, and it's stayed in the back of my head for the better part of half a decade; long enough to bring me back into it. That's more than I can say for a lot of other places.
