My Test Drive Review for Hyundai Ioniq 6

As an EV enthusiast, I tend to get the first hand experience of newly launched EV in the local market. Hence, got myself an appointment to test drive IONIQ 6, which is 5 seater sedan full electric vehicle.

Personally, I think HI6 has several notable aspects:

Sleek and sexy silhouette - this one is obvious as the first look of it is like WOW, car can be so streamlined and the whole body feels kinda like Porsche as well.

Pixel and transparent head and tail light - damn, this one is definitely the eye catcher as the detailing for the lights is one of the main reason that catches my eyes on the car. This is also why I also like HI5 as well.

Smooth acceleration - in comparison with HI5, the pickup and initial acceleration is smoother and the handling is definitely better due to the different car height. So with HI6, I would be even more keen to speed up (not favourable haha).

Cockpit like driver seat - for HI6, it is more cockpit feel than HI5, so this feels that you are being the pilot and controller of the car itself. Just that the buttons are a bit wide spread and the manoeuvre may come inconvenient in some cases like the opening of side screens. We are quite used to those built on the handle of our driver side door.

Larger battery and better range - being lighter than HI5, the car could perform to 600km which is very good for a peninsular drive, but of course this would need to have real life testing to get the exact figure. This would mean I can travel between KL to Penang in one go without needing to worry about charging in the middle.

All in all, I do think it is a great car to own. Tempting but of course, we can't have all right :P This would be a test drive for me first.

Got this from my SA whereby the official pricing for IONIQ6 in Malaysia market would be between 289,888MYR and 319,888MYR, a 30k difference for RWD and AWD

NOTE: Local SA wouldn't let me to take photos due to the management requirement... so couldn't share more photos of my own.

Sort:

This is the first EV I've seen that could sway me away from Tesla. It's a gorgeous car.

I do agree, in comparison to Tesla (which is kinda dull), Hyundai did well in the appearance

Best of luck

welcome! not gonna purchase, just wanna give it a try
