Welcome, dear readers!
Often, when I feel sad, like now, during the quarantine, I watch my favorite movies of the past years.
For example, such a film as "Short Circuit", created by American filmmakers for family viewing in the genre of Comedy fiction, which had its world premiere on may 9, 1986. This film did not appear in the Russian wide box office, but it can be found on the Internet on sites that provide online movie viewing services.
I first saw this film in the late eighties and early nineties in one of the various video stores that appeared everywhere in those years. Then I watched it many more times, first on videotapes, and later on the Internet.
The film, directed by John Badham with the participation of screenwriters S. S. Wilson, Brent Maddock and Jay Tarses, was so masterpiece that it looks easy, exciting, and with great interest, despite the fact that almost a quarter of a century has passed since its release on the screen.
That's what I remembered now and reviewed it again. I was almost familiar with all the scenes of this film, all the phrases that were heard in it, but my interest in the film, the main characters, and their adventures remained the same as if I was watching it for the first time.
If we talk about the plot of this film in brief, the main events take place there at the research base "Nova", where the latest models of robots created by the order of the military Department for the us army are being tested. The result of the tests suits everyone, but a sudden storm forces everyone to take shelter in the base. The robots are sent to the warehouse, but one of the lightning bolts hits the last of them. As a result, the program embedded in it fails, and the robot suddenly turns from a harsh and merciless warrior into a cute, charming and inquisitive creature. Thanks to Stephanie-a girl who cares for animals, the robot learns the world, understands the value of life and understands that death is forever. And, of course, he begins to think that he is johnny five, also alive, and he does not want to die. And by his behavior, he proves this to his Creator...
It gives me great pleasure to watch what is happening on the screen. There are many scenes filled with kind and warm humor, touching, lyrical scenes. The film was shot in a picturesque area, with a minimum of special effects, which, by the way, does not prevent it from being very spectacular. I liked both the dynamic development of the plot and the musical accompaniment of the film. By the way, the plot has some of the stage elements created on the basis of the story of the famous science fiction writer Isaac Asimov "Robot AL-76 Goes Astray" (1941). The film raises many problems of modern society that are still relevant at the present time, as well as teaches kindness, friendship, peace, and respect for living beings.
The film starred ally Sheedy, Steve Guttenberg, Fisher Stevens, Austin Pendleton, J. W. Bailey and other actors, whose performance was at a decent height - I liked it.
I also liked the dubbing in Russian, which was attended by Svetlana Gaitan, Sergey Bekhterev, Sergey Vlasov, Gennady Bogachev and Nikolai Lavrov.
The film will appeal not only to fans of science fiction. I think it will be interesting to any audience from young to old!
Enjoy your viewing!
