Welcome, dear readers!
One of the films of the nineties of the last century that came to us from abroad and struck my imagination was the film "Wishmaster" by American filmmakers, created in the genre of fantasy horror. Its world premiere took place on September 19, 1997. In Russian cinemas, it was not shown, but the film could first be found on DVDs, and then on sites that provide services for viewing movies online.
The film's tagline: "Be careful what you wish for" reflects the essence of the story as well as possible. Indeed, if you think about how often we are completely careless in formulating our desires, without thinking about what consequences this may lead to. As, for example, happened in this film with many of its characters. Although... how could they have imagined that the man who so insistently offered to grant them any wish was actually an evil spirit, a Genie who took people's souls for his services and wanted to find eternal life?
The creators of the film-Director Robert Kurtzman and screenwriter Peter Atkins managed to organically combine in its plot and ancient myths, and images of modernity, mysticism and reality, multiplied by fear, black humor and love relationships... In General, all in one, and just in moderation.
In short, the story told in the film begins with a drunken crane operator unloading an ancient statue from the hold of a ship that has arrived from far away, and dropping it. The statue breaks, and a crystal falls out of it, in which the spirit of the evil Genie was imprisoned for eight hundred years. Awakened from a long sleep, he wanders the city and collects the souls of people in exchange for the fulfillment of any, even the wildest, desires. The main prize-eternal life-should give him the fulfillment of three wishes of a young girl named Alex, a researcher at the Museum, who awakened him.
The plot develops dynamically, consistently. There are practically no flaws in it, and it constantly keeps in suspense, keeping the intrigue until the very end. I liked the special effects, the musical accompaniment of the film, and the excellent performance of the actors who starred in both the main and secondary roles. This is Tammy Lauren, Andrew Divoff, Robert Englund, Chris Lemmon, Wendy Benson-Landis, Tony Crane, Jenny O'Hara and other actors.
Despite the fact that the film was released more than twenty years ago, it will appeal to fans of mystery and horror. The only age limit he has is 16 years.
Pleasant to you of viewing!
Thank you for your attention, see you soon!
Sincerely yours, @mrfantastis.
