One Piece chapter 896 was just released a few days ago. After quite a while, eventually the battle between Luffy against Katakuri was over. While their battle is over, Eiichiro Oda brings us back to the other figures involved in this Whole Cake Island arc-and especially the most interesting are Sanji and Pudding.
Ever since it first began, Whole Cake Island arc has focused its story on Sanji who was forced by his family to marry Pudding, Big Mom's daughter. After a variety of events, Pudding finally canceled his intention to kill Sanji and even eventually fell in love with the blonde chef.
Chapter 896 itself is titled One Last Wish or One Last Request. Of course, this title refers to the Pudding who requested one final request to Sanji before the two separated. The problem is, what is Pudding's last request? Because after asking, the three-eyed girl withdrew Sanji's cigarette and the scene was interrupted there.
Well, from here there are several possibilities that occur. One such possibility is Pudding kissing Sanji as the last request before parting. It was seen when the Big Mom's daughter pulled the chef's cigarette. Of course, we can not say that both of us kissing between mouths. Can also cheek, or forehead. Given the cigarette is hot, of course Pudding wants to kiss Sanji without having to burn. Ha ha.
Interestingly, if you look at the last page of chapter 896, you will find that Sanji gets back his cigarette. This could mean that after being kissed by Pudding, Big Mom's daughter returns the cigarette to Sanji's mouth. Or maybe Pudding was carrying Sanji cigarettes and Sanji replaced them with new ones.
Then, why Sanji does not look very happy after being kissed by Pudding on the page? Surely, as a female lover, Sanji would be excited to get a kiss from a woman instead - even though the woman is Pudding.
Why Sanji is not excited after being kissed by Pudding? This is because Pudding has the power of the devil fruit Memo Memo no Mi. The power of this demon's fruit is to manipulate or eliminate one's memory. Well, with this power, Pudding also removes Sanji's memory of him. Therefore, the chef also seemed calm on the last page.
In addition, if you look again, there Pudding is not seen at all. It could mean that Pudding escaped after kissing Sanji. There is a possibility that Pudding fainted in place before kissing and removing Sanji's memory, but if so, it is likely that the panel showing Sanji on the last page would not be like that. Sanji might panic and try to put Pudding somewhere.
If the theory of Pudding's final request is true, not impossible, this unilateral love story between Pudding and Sanji will be the most romantic of Kimi no Na Wa's Makoto Shinkai. Given Oda herself is very good at telling stories, it seems we all have to be ready to baper facing the next chapters.
I think the request was for Sanji to forget her or something about her. Oda is a master of misdirection and I think her removing the cigarette was to distract us the readers from figuring out what she wanted.
If not that I think she wanted to change a particular memory, maybe her betraying him and his friends or about her third eye.
I don't think she was asking him to quit smoking because he wouldnt be smoking in the next page.
