피셔스페이스펜(Fisher Spacepen) AG-7

Hello guys!!Today, I want to introduce my pen, AG-7.

피셔 스페이스펜은 일명 우주 펜이라고 하는 볼펜들을 만드는 브랜드입니다. 그중에서도 AG-7은 피셔 스페이스펜을 상징하는 볼펜이라고 할 수 있죠. AG라는 말은 무중력, Anti-Gravity의 약자로 무중력상태인 우주에서도 쓸 수 있는 펜이라는 뜻이죠. AG-7은 1968년 아폴로 7호 미션에 사용되었다고 하네요.

Fisher Spacepen is a pen brand that makes so-called spacepen or astronaut pen. And AG-7 is a symbol of Fisher Spacepen. The AG in its name stands for the abbreviation of Anti-Gravity, and it means that this pen can be used in the space. AG-7 is used on Apollo 7 Mission in 1968.

노크식입니다. 윗부분 버튼을 누르면 촉이 나오고 옆부분의 버튼을 누르면 다시 펜촉이 들어가죠.

AG-7 is a retractable pen that you can extend the tip by clicking the button on the top, and retract the tip by pressing another button on the side of the pen.

이 펜은 무중력 상태에서 펜을 사용하기 위해 가스의 압력을 이용해 잉크를 밀어내는 기술과 특수 잉크를 사용했다고 합니다. 지구에서는 중력의 영향으로 잉크가 자연스럽게 밑으로 흐르지만 우주에서는 그렇지 않다는 점을 해결하기 위한 방법이죠. 그 결과 이 펜은 어느 각도에서도, 우주에서도 쓸 수 있는 펜이 된 것이죠. 그리고 가스의 압력과 특수 잉크 덕분에 일반 펜의 세 배나 되는 수명을 가진다고 하네요. 자세히는 모르겠지만 잉크통 벽면에 있는 잉크들까지 가스의 압력으로 밀어내 쓸 수 있다는 점이 수명의 비결이 아닌가 생각이 드네요. 다들 아시겠지만 케첩이나 마요네즈 쓰실때 통 안쪽 벽면에 묻어있는 케첩, 마요네즈의 양이 꽤 되잖아요. 그것들을 모두 다 꺼내 쓴다면 상당한 양이 되겠죠?

Fisher used the pressure of a gas and thixotropic ink to make a pen that can be used in the space. And thanks to these technologies, Fisher Spacepen Ink Cartridge writes three times longer than an ordinary ballpoint pen.

여기까지만 보면 참 좋은 펜이지만 몇가지 단점들이 있죠..
첫번째, 이 펜을 쓰게 되면 딜레마에 빠져요..
이 볼펜은 반짝거리고 은빛이 나는, 크롬을 도금한 펜입니다. 그래서 긇히거나 찌그러지면 굉장히 보기 안좋죠. 그래서 케이스에 넣어서 가지고 다녀야 하는데..

Although AG-7 is a good pen, it has some drawbacks.
First, if you use this pen, you will fall into a dilemma.
This ballpoint pen is a shiny, silver, chrome-plated pen. So I have to carry this pen in the case to prevent scratches and dents because it looks awful. But...

케이스가 좀 큽니다. 다른 스페이스펜 케이스들이랑 비교하면 더욱 잘 느껴지는데요..

It has a large case compared to other pen cases of Fisher.

그래서 케이스에 넣고 다니느냐 아니면 그냥 들고 다니느냐 하는 딜레마에 빠지게 됩니다.

So it makes me fall into a dilemma. Carry it in the case or not.

두번째는요, 역시 재질과 관련이 있는데..이 반짝거리는 크롬..지문이나 먼지가 묻으면 참 티가 잘나는 재질이죠.
Second, its chrome-plated body can get dirty easily by dust or fingerprints.
그리고 펜의 그립부도!

홈이 파여져 있는데 이런 스타일은 쉽게 더러워지죠..

The patterns on the grip of the pen also make it easy to get dirty.

그리고 세번째, 어찌 보면 가장 중요한 부분인데요..특수 잉크를 사용한다고 해서 필기감도 특별하다고 생각하시면 안됩니다. 이 볼펜은 중력에 관계없이 필기를 할 수 있는 볼펜이지 부드럽게 필기하기 위한 볼펜은 아니잖아요. 가끔 스페이스펜 써보시고 실망하시는 분들이 계시더라구요. 그래서 저는 이 펜을 쓰시기 전에 스페이스펜 리필을 먼저 써보시기를 추천드립니다. 리필을 파커식 볼펜에 끼워 쓸 수 있으니까 써보시고 괜찮으시면 그때 스페이스펜을 쓰시면 좋을것 같네요~

And third, maybe the most important one, AG-7 is not a pen that is comfortable to write with. AG-7 is a pen which can be used regardless of the influence of gravity, not a pen with a smooth writing ink. Therefore, I suggest you use the Spacepen refill first and buy the pen later if you satisfied with the quality of the ink. You can use the adapter coming with the refill to use the refill in the Parker Style Pens.
요약하자면, AG-7은 말 그대로 언제, 어디서든 어떤 상황에서든 쓸 수 있는 딱 그 정도의 펜이라고 할 수 있겠네요.

In summary, AG-7 is the pen that can be used anytime, anywhere, and in any situations but not the pen with excellent quality.
