Video is fun and all, but it was time to return to the written word. Smashwords had a site-wide sale recently, and I grabbed several books. One of them was the 2014 novella, Dark Desires, Inc. by author C. Elle.
Poor Scarlett can't seem to find sexual satisfaction through normal channels. She has dark fantasies about rough sex, abduction roleplay, and other activities that her various lovers have no interest in participating in.
One night, she stumbles across an app, the titular Dark Desires, which promises to virtually fulfil her needs. Inside the app, however, is the opportunity to make your fantasy a reality for a mere $1,000. Throwing caution to the wind, Scarlett orders the "deluxe package".
Several days later, Scarlett is surprised in a parking lot by a masked man (in reality, the app's owner and developer) who takes her to an abandoned warehouse and restrains her. Over the course of the next few days, Scarlett is ravaged numerous times, all within the boundaries of the fantasies she shared on the app.
That's basically the entirety of the story. The biggest problem with this and many other stories of this type is that the "victim" recognizes what's going on, and there has to be a suspension of disbelief to fully embrace the scenario. Granted, this would be a borderline disgusting sleaze novel if the situation was "real", but again, there is no mystery at all for the reader, and really, Scarlett herself.
Otherwise, the sex scenes are detailed nicely. As is often the case with first-time writers, there are numerous reused phrases and adverbs throughout, and the prose could have used another pass for grammatical errors.
All things told, however, Dark Desires, Inc. delivers everything it promises. The base price of $2.99 is a bit steep for the amount of material here, but if you can catch it on sale, it's an entertaining piece of erotica.
