Ready to say goodbye to Andrew Lincoln's character?

The farewell of Rick Grimes ( Andrew Lincoln ) is near. The fifth episode of the ninth season of The Walking Dead will be the last with the leader of Alexandria. To honor the character, how about reminiscing five of his best moments throughout the series?

RICK WAKES UP IN THE ZOMBIE APOCALYPSE

The first season of The Walking Dead really introduced us to Rick Grimes. One of the most striking episodes of the character is certainly the first, when he wakes up in the hospital, has his initial encounter with the dead. Another exciting and at the same time fragile time of the season is when he meets Lori ( Sarah Wayne Callies ) and Carl ( Chandler Riggs ).

SHANE'S DEATH

Rick has killed several characters over the years in The Walking Dead - both living and dead. But the moment that was really a turning point for the hero was when he had to kill Shane. Ending the life of his ex-friend to save himself haunted him for a long time and left a void in his life. In addition to having deepened the emotional chasm between him and his wife and revealed his violent survival instincts for his son.

THE DEATH OF SOPHIA

When the characters finally find out that Carol's missing daughter ( Melissa McBride ) was in the barn all the time, the characters are shocked and sad. The only one who has the strength to end Sophia's undead suffering is Rick, who takes the lead and kills the young zombie.

FIND OUT THAT LORI DIED
()

When Carl and Maggie ( Lauren Cohan ) leave the prison without Lori - after she had given birth but not resisted delivery and Carl had to shoot her so she would not go back like a zombie - Rick is devastated. This is one of the times when the character shows a strong emotional side. Grimes' mourning became the stuff of many memes, but it also showed the actor's ability to channel primordial emotion relentlessly.

RICK LOSES CARL

Once again, Rick showed his most sensitive side when faced with the death of a close relative: his son, Carl. Lincoln presents a much calmer view of Rick's pain, since he could spend a long time knowing that the boy was going to die. When he receives the letter from his son, he subsequently stars once again an emotional moment.

BONUS: RICK, MICHONNE AND JUDITH![]

Rick Grimes's life is not just suffering. One of the episodes of the ninth season featured the Alexandria leader in a lovely family time alongside his companion Michonne ( Danai Gurira ) and his daughter, Judith. Showing that even though he's lost his son Carl and many others over time, he's still looking for happy moments alongside his own.
