When there are no words...

in #rip5 years ago

There are times in our lives when you hear something that hits takes your breath away, something that knocks the wind right out of you worse then a kick in the balls. The type of news that can take someone like me that always has something to say and leaves me speechless.

A couple weeks ago I got that news and it took until today to be able to speak about it. While working at a show on Saturday June 30th I got a text from a friend that his 17 Year Old Daughter was killed by a Drunk Driver. I happened to glance at my phone while working my booth and literally had to sit down and reread the text to make sure I had read it correctly. Everything around me faded out as I stared at my phone trying to figure out how to reply...but I was at a complete loss for words. Seriously what can be said at that moment?

On her way home from work riding her bike a worthless piece of shit by the name of Neil Singhal who while driving drunk swerved and struck Sophia Delott who later died at the hospital. You can read a little about the story as Sports Illustrated reported it here: https://www.si.com/high-school/2019/07/02/sophia-delott-female-football-player-killed-crash .

When you see stories about people who lost someone and they talk about how amazing that person was you wonder were they really that good. Well this was someone who was the only girl on her football team, early enlisted Marine, and an all around bad ass. She did for others without looking for anything in return. She was what this world needs more of.

Naturally her Dad (my friend) and the rest of the family is devastated. How you wake up the next day and keep going after your kid was killed I'm just not sure. Tonight I sat with him and tried to keep all conversations about anything other than his Daughter...but anytime there was a pause I could see it in his eyes that he was thinking of her.

It's not even my child and it's heart breaking. Sadness, Horror, Disbelief, and pure Rage are all emotions I've felt over the last couple weeks and every bit of it came rushing back tonight as we talked. All I wanted to do was take away his pain...but how? Nothing will fix this, nothing will make him feel normal, nothing will fill the emptiness in his heart. All I could do was sit there and try to keep him from focusing on his Daughter for a couple hours. Attempt to find conversations that would let him find just a bit of joy in life for the moment. I got a smile or two tonight as we talked, but they quickly faded.

Before I go into a rant about how fucked up the world is when a murdering drunk piece of shit gets to walk out of court by posting a $5,000 bond after murdering a 17 year old girl I'm going to just cut the post off here.

BTW, After reading this I realize it's all over the place...but honestly I just need to put these thoughts out there and I just don't care about the flow or grammar.

My deep condolence to your friend's lost 😢😢 I let the tears flow while reading yours. The world might seems so unfair for some of us. Couldn't agree more with you.. The World needs more people like her, but the world also need to learn from what happened to her. None can escape death and lost. Im so sorry to hear that.

But released after paying $5k? What about his driver license? DRUNKEN SHOULD NOT BE ALLOWED TO DRIVE A CAR OR EVEN A BIKE!

This day in age it's really hard to understand why anyone does it. The ability to open an app on your phone and have an Uber/Lyft pick you up within minutes to drive you should remove this nonsense from happening. The ability of cars to drive themselves is coming and hopefully this will save lives from people like this.

You're right! The people who can't decided how to hold themselves fromma chance to kill other by their carelessness not supposed to drive for a life time too.

My condolences to your friend and the loss. It never gets easy, it matters not how many close to you, you lose, they all touch you. I can not imagine what it is like to lose a child. Sometimes the words will not come, like you said, but there are times the grief needs to be shared, and the person just needs someone there with them. It sounds like that is what you did for your friend. The grammar the punctuation, the flow of words of a post are meaningless, I think we all got the message despite any of that.

His daughter sounds like she was a very fine young woman.

but there are times the grief needs to be shared, and the person just needs someone there with them.

This is all anyone can do IMO. There are no words that fix something this devastating.

Losing a child is a horrible thought. My condolences to you and your friend.

My thoughts and prayers with your friend and his family in this hard time. There is saying like one could double the happiness and make half the pain and sorrow if they share it with others. So you must be little relieved after you sharedit here. And at the same time it is also the most cruel punishment one can get it one gets to live the life with the pain of losing their kids for the rest of life.

We can hope time may heal their pain to a limit. You can give as much as comfort to them by frequent visits and doing like what you had exactly done try to divert their thoughts as much as they can.

RIP for their soul.

There is also another saying God used to take back people whom He likes most from this earth.
So the girl must be God's favorite little kid. The world is cruel, We have to expect the unexpected many times.

So you must be little relieved after you sharedit here.

I wasn't able to fall asleep last night and writing that allow me to get to bed. It was therapeutic for sure and helps show that just being there to listen to others can help lift their burdens.

this is really a bad news i had a opinion on it it that ' all kind of wine have to banned in whole earth' as i am Muslim and in Islam all kind of wine are forbidden.

I drink and enjoy it in a responsible way. Drinking itself isn't the problem just as guns aren't the problem, nor are Muslim's the problem. There are plenty who believe the world should be rid of all 3 of those things because "booze kills people" or because "guns kill people" or because "Muslim's kill people".

Yet a rational person knows that none of those things nor a religion kill people. It takes people using things in a bad way or twisting the words of a religion to then kill people. Do each of these things make killing others easier, absolutely they do. Booze impairs you, Guns are a tool that make killing easier, and Religion (not just your religion) all false prophets to twist words and make susceptible people believe they are acting in the name of "God". Would banning Booze, Guns, and Religion save lives...maybe....but I think not as those who kill would likely just find another way to get messed up, use a different tool to kill, or find another self justification as to why killing is ok.

In case that wasn't clear I have no issue with anyone choosing to believe in their choice of God or Gods. But honestly preaching about part of your religion in a time like this just isn't appropriate IMO.

Wine is not bad itself, rather it the people who drink it that abuse it by aking what your head could not carry or over drinking.

hun but according to me wine is the worst thing of the world because when you drunk then you completely loss your control its not about over drinking......
