Are Ripple & Bitcoin future rivals? See what 'Crypto Twitter' has said below!
Crypto Twitter Favors Ripple in Poll 1
In our "Crypto Twitter" polls, we shoot to ask an unbiased (not leading or loaded) question to the cryptocurrency community on Twitter. By doing so, we offer questions that are interesting for the viewers to think about, and interesting for us to analyze and write about in blog posts like this one! This is our first week doing this poll, and we have already found some fairly interesting results. We asked 'crypto Twitter' whether Ripple, Ethereum, Litecoin, or another currency was most likely to rival Bitcoin in the future.

Week 1 Poll Analysis
In this poll, we asked crypto Twitter which coin has the best chance to rival Bitcoin in the long term. Though 17% of people put "Other," only 1 replied (with Verge - XVG). So, we will focus on the other 3 possible answers.
The Winner: Ripple (38%)
The undisputed winner of our first poll was Ripple - XRP. Ripple is an interesting choice here, and not the one I would have pegged as the crypto community's choice. Ripple has been around for years, and it has been one of the top 3-4 cryptocurrencies in terms of market capitalization for a long time. Ripple claims to "provide optional access to the world’s fastest and most scalable digital asset for payments, XRP." They do this by maintaining their own scalable blockchain, and you can read more about it on their website! It's undoubtedly an interesting cryptocurrency, but I was surprised to see it favored by that much! Watch out for the future Ripple & Bitcoin rivalry!
Second Place: Ethereum (25%)
Our second place coin is Ethereum - ETH. Ethereum is a beast in the blockchain atmosphere, and it has been since it came on the seen a few years ago. The Ethereum blockchain was one of the first to provide an efficient framework for smart contracts and decentralized applications (dApps). Now being built off the Ethereum network are hundreds of different ERC20 "tokens." These tokens require Ethereum to purchase, and many Independent Coin Offerings (ICOs) are making use of this framework. While Ethereum has other competitors (NEO being its biggest), it is undoubtedly a staple of cryptocurrency for the forseeable future.
Third Place: Litecoin (20%)
While Litecoin - LTC isn't technically in the top 4 (Bitcoin Cash - BCH), I wanted to give the crypto community one that isn't a blatantly obvious contender to overtake Bitcoin. Twitter did not respond as favorably to Litecoin as they did Ripple and Ethereum, but it still notched a third place finish with 1/5th of the vote. Litecoin was actually a Bitcoin fork a while back. Since the fork, it has been a steady top 10 coin market cap coin. While Bitcoin is the monster of this blockchain as it currently stands, forks off of the blockchain such as Bitcoin Cash and Litecoin are certainly valuable assets. The usability of Litecoin makes it an underdog to overtake Bitcoin in the long term future.
