Rising Star First Step was an annual competition for beginners. Young musicians would compete for the grand prize of a set of musical instruments: a drum kit, MIDI keyboard, bass and electric guitar, several mics, and a mini sound system. This was enough to form a rock band.
In the Rising Star game, you could find Special Missions, such as Battlegames Friday Gig, GIFT Charity Gig, PIXEL Cover Shoot, Play For BEER, Easter Egg Hunt, and STARBITS Millionaire. The game said:
Special Missions award you with hive engine tokens that aren't Starbits! Some of these missions require you to hold a certain number of these tokens (proof of stake) and they have limited token pools which can run out.
Unlike the regular Home Town missions that awarded Starbit, these special missions had different rewards. For example, Battlegames Friday Gig gave BATTLE token prizes, GIFT Charity Gig gave GIFT token, PIXEL Cover Shoot offered PIXEL, and Play For BEER shared BEER. However, you could exchange all tokens or trade on Hive Engine because all tokens were in the Hive ecosystem. You might try these special missions once in a while. It was fun.
Back to Rising Star First Step. This was one of the important events for buskers in Buskeria. Gee, I would compete with other buskers who might be more senior and good at music. But, I was not afraid. The presence of Maxim The Saxophonist in our team made me more confident.
"So what's the plan?" I asked.
Kurt Vonnegut sipped his coffee and placed the cup slowly on the table, like a fragile crystal.
"Since the time is near, I think we have to practice a lot. I suggest we practice every day. One hour per day is enough. On weekends, we train longer, say three hours," said Kurt.
Maxim nodded in agreement.
"Agreed," I said.
"Then, we'll start practicing tomorrow. I'll vacate the practice room in the studio at 19. I'll be waiting for you," said Kurt.
The meeting was brief. Maxim said goodbye and immediately went to contact his friends who could be invited into our team. He did not mention whom he would invite but I believed that he was very familiar with the area and knew the abilities of young buskers on Wittgenstein Street.
I walked home happily. I knew our house problem was not over yet but this project really excited me. Grief at the possibility of losing the house was temporarily eliminated.
I turned on Radio Rising Star on my cellphone and heard Geronimo by Skeeboo (@skeeboo) and Rise Up by Grand Space Adventure and Juxta (@risingstargame). I walked towards the Metro train station. This was one of the happiest days of my life.

Rising Star First Step adalah ajang kompetisi tahunan bagi para pemusik pemula. Para musisi muda akan bertarung memperebutkan hadiah utama satu set instrumen musik: drum kit, MIDI keyboard, bass dan gitar elektrik, beberapa mik, dan mini sound system. Ini cukup untuk membentuk satu grup musik.
Di Rising Star game, kau bisa menemukan Special Missions, seperti Battlegames Friday Gig, GIFT Charity Gig, PIXEL Cover Shoot, Play For BEER, Easter Egg Hunt, dan STARBITS Millionaire. Tidak seperti misi reguler Home Town yang memberikan hadiah Starbit, misi khusus ini memberikan hadiah berbeda-beda. Misalnya, Battlegames Friday Gig memberikan hadiah token BATTLE, GIFT Charity Gig memberikan hadiah GIFT, PIXEL Cover Shoot menawarkan PIXEL, dan Play For BEER membagikan BEER. Namun demikian, semua token itu dapat kamu pertukarkan atau perjual-belikan di Hive Engine karena semua token itu berada dalam ekosistem Hive. Kau boleh mencoba misi-misi khusus ini sesekali. Menyenangkan.
Kembali ke Rising Star First Step. Ini salah satu ajang penting bagi para pengamen di Buskeria. Gila, aku akan bersaing dengan para pengamen lain yang mungkin lebih senior dan jago dalam bermusik. Tapi, aku tak gentar. Kehadiran Maxim The Saxophonist dalam tim kami membuatku lebih percaya diri.
"Jadi bagaimana rencananya?" tanyaku.
Kurt Vonnegut menghirup kopinya dan meletakkan cangkirnya pelan-pelan di meja, seperti kristal yang rentan pecah.
"Karena waktunya sudah dekat, aku kira kita harus banyak latihan. Aku sarankan kita latihan tiap hari. Satu jam per hari sudah cukup. Di akhir pekan, kita latihan lebih lama, misalnya tiga jam," kata Kurt.
Maxim mengangguk setuju.
"Setuju," kataku.
"Kalau begitu, kita mulai latihan besok. Aku akan mengosongkan ruang latihan di studio pada pukul 19. Aku tunggu kalian," kata Kurt.
Pertemuan itu singkat saja. Maxim pamit untuk segera pergi menghubungi teman-temannya yang bisa diajak masuk ke dalam tim kami. Dia tidak menyebutkan siapa yang mau di ajak tapi aku percaya bahwa dia sangat mengenal daerah ini dan tahu kemampuan para pengamen muda di Wittgenstein Street.
Aku melangkah pulang dengan senang. Aku tahu masalah rumah kami belum bisa selesai tapi projek ini benar-benar membuatku bersemangat. Kesedihan terhadap kemungkinan kehilangan rumah untuk sementara tersingkir.
Aku hidupkan Radio Rising Star di handphone dan mendengar lagu Geronimo oleh Skeeboo (@skeeboo) dan Rise Up oleh Grand Space Adventure dan Juxta (@risingstargame). Aku berjalan sambil bersiul-siul menuju stasiun kereta Metro. Ini salah satu hari paling bahagia dalam hidupku.
