I have lots to learn about production, but I had heard of reference tracks. Got to learn from the greats. It may not be so much about what gear you have. Got to have good ears.

Ears are where it all begins and ends.Technical aspects are often done by engineers while producers and artists focus on listening.
Knowing stuff about production serves to help one achieve the sound that they hear or want to hear.
