Nice topic to discuss on. Here are my thoughts on improving Steemit and addition of other things to the Steem network
First, on Steemit,
I think it would be helpful if there is a follow option for a particular post on the feed/steemit. That way, I would not want to resteem it, but rather keep following it discreetly.
A change to the really harsh colors of green and black. Can we have the old theme for the Steemit.com site please?
A better way of password management.
A better search filter for Steemit. Right now, the google search makes it a tad annoying.
Ability to upload a profile picture? Currently i've to provide a link or do some work on stackedit to get the photo there.
A better way of being able to control my feed. I can choose what topics I want to follow on my feed. Maybe have a second feed option for topics, over the existing feed of followed users?
One thing that could be done is a Steem store. Users can put up objects for sale, others can buy. All via crypto currency. Call it SteemBay, if you wish!

A lot of these seem like suggestions for Steemit. Do you think members of the community will be able to help with these?
I think we as members push forward for these things.
One thing that we can have is an app for steemit.chat, call it steem.chat if you will. I like it better if I can use it on my phone. Maybe this is a place where members of the community can help?
Even steem market place can be community initiative.
What do you think of this idea? A steemit map app, where steemians can pin their locations from around the world, so it makes it easy to find steemians near you? Also, steem meetups can be added on this map.
Idea for that is to have more and more options within the steem network so it adds value to the network.
I'm not sure how these suggestions would be implemented. Would they need a business case to prove themselves/ justification of need? Can you elaborate a little more on this?
I haven’t tried it, but I think the rocket chat app works on mobile.
