American kestrels are one of the most beautiful little raptors. After flights, Ace curiously looked upward to observe a passing turkey vulture. The glare of the sun is no problem for a falcon like Ace.
If you look beneath his eye, you'll notice a black stripe. This is known as the malar stripe, and it absorbs sunlight, keeping the falcon's eyes free from interfering glare. 😎
